The Vice Presidential Debate

Gov. Sarah Palin
Earlier tonight, I, along with millions of others, watched the only official debate that will take place between the Vice Presidential Candidates: Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden. After carefully listening to everything that was said by both candidates, I have to say that Gov. Palin not only handled herself very well, but spoke authoritatively and confidently. She was well prepared, and came across as someone who is ready to fill the office of Vice President of the United States of America. Gov. Palin will lead our country with competence, honesty and integrity.
Additionally, as a Bible believing Christian, I must say that while neither the Republican nor the Democratic ticket is perfect, let me encourage you to closely examine where each ticket is positioned in comparison to Biblical teaching. Put aside your usual allegiance to one political party, and ask this question: Which candidates will most closely align themselves with God’s Word, and will lead the United States of America from a Biblical point of view? I’m not telling you who to vote for, but simply saying to make sure you vote based on the issues and not your political party affiliation.
I welcome your thoughts. Please leave comments.

If you are a God-fearing Christian, I feel that you cannot in good conscience support a candidate that favors abortion rights. Abortion is in my opinion the “worlds sickest practice”. The democratic party is so far left of the party of President Kennedy that it is now a different party all together! The moral compass of the modern democratic party is completely broken.
Now don’t believe for a minute that abortion is the only issue where the democrats have embraced secular progressive thought. Gay marriage… a union, between two people of the same sex. Remember everyone, God created Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve! The issue of gun control is also troubling for any traditional Americans. We have a right to defend ourself and our families, how can any politician feel he/she has the right to take that away. Guns don’t kill people… people kill people! I am an economic moderate, but does anyone really believe that the rich in America should have to shoulder almost the entire tax burden of this country! The rich should pay more than the middle class and alot more than the poor… but don’t penalize someone for success. The democrats economic plan resembles that if socialism and shades of Russian communism. Communism is a failed economic philosophy, that created no incentive for hard work and made the belief in god… illegal! Welfare is a joke, I hate to have so many cliches but I am a firm believer that “god doesn’t help those who don’t help themself first”.
As for the debate, Sarah Palin easily defeated Joe Biden, and hopefully this will do something to help McCain’s sagging poll numbers. If the election were held today, I think that McCain would lose by five percent and by a significant margin in the electoral college. I believe that the polls will tighten again and expect to see about a two percentage Obama lead going into November 4th, hopefully then the Bradley Effect will come into play and make this race as close as I expect. In November, look for 3 key states to determine the election… Ohio, Virginia and Colorado. I think Colorado is Osama’s best chance at stealing a Bush-state and if he wins there he will win the election… lets hope not. By the way, how hot is Sarah Palin?!

I found your blog on usenet and just wanted to say that I’m appalled that you people can call yourselves Christian and still be so bigoted.
I’d like to start off by saying that I, too, believe that abortion is wrong. I would never consider it an option for myself or my daughter. However, what ever happened to separation of church and state? What gives me, or any of you for that matter, the right to push your religious beliefs on an entire nation? Do you truly think that making abortion illegal is going to stop it? Do we want to return to the days of back-alley abortions with women dying from unsanitary conditions? Rather than expanding the welfare rolls with more unwanted children, I’d prefer to have my tax dollars going to pay for voluntary sterilization and birth control.
How does gay marriage affect you or your marriages? I happen to be in a very happy heterosexual marriage, but whatever my gay friends do in the privacy of their own homes has no effect on my relationship anymore than what I do has any effect on theirs. What happens in private between two consenting adults is none of your business. Once again, you’re forcing your religious beliefs on others.
I support gun control. I also support your right to have a gun as long as you’re not mentally ill or a convicted felon. How does it harm you to have a background check before you can buy one? Do you really need an automatic weapon for self defense or hunting?
George Bush has ruined our economy, lied about reasons for war, and has generally ignored the Constitution. He and his administration have caused the deaths of thousands of our soldiers. He will go down in history as our nation’s worst president.

Melanie, I thank you for weighing in. As you saw in my post, I simply challenged people to compare what the candidates stand for to the Bible, and to chose who to vote for based on whose positions on the issues most closely aligns with Scripture.
Now, as far as separation of church and state, the United States of America was founded upon Christian principles that are in the Bible. So, to try and separate our country from “church,” or The Bible, is trying to separate it from the very things that make this country great.
So, again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. This is what blogs are great for. I hope you’ll continue to return and read when I post.
